Homemade fabric softener

In winter, fabric softeners are needed more than ever to help contain the static that can give you electric shocks and leave you feeling frazzled and grumpy. Make your own environmentally friendly fabric softener using ingredients that are already in your home.

One cup vinegar

One cup bicarbonate of soda

Two cups water

Combine in a bucket or large basin and stir well.

Once the bicarb has dissolved, pour into a plastic bottle with a tight fitting cap.

To use, add one quarter cup softener to your last rinse cycle.

To use this another way, dip a wet cloth into the mixture and toss into your tumble drier for it to work like a softener sheet.

Worth trying. Think of the cash you will be saving!
