Simple winter warmth ideas

Careful choice of lighting for energy efficiency

The winter season is officially upon us! Here are some simple and energy-efficient tips for keeping your household warm:

  • If you have a draught coming in a window, try putting an old shower curtain behind your fabric curtains and draw it first before closing the curtains. It works to insulate the window and keep out the chill.
  • Check your light bulbs and give them all a jolly good dusting. It is amazing how much brighter and warmer you will make your rooms by just doing this one simple thing.
  • Put a few drops of wintergreen oil onto a cotton wool ball and pop it into an open jar. It helps to keep away that musty smell you can get in winter from having the doors and windows closed to keep out the icy winds.
