Honey for a beautiful skin

Honey has three important properties which can help promote a beautiful skin – it is a great humectant, deeply hydrating the skin; an anti-bacterial for purifying and cleansing and thirdly an anti-inflammatory helping to soothe, calm and reduce redness and irritation.

Why not treat your skin to this simple Carrot Face Mask This is a face treatment that has it all…cleansing, nourishing, moisturizing, astringent and soothing ….. And no doubt all the ingredients are already in your kitchen!

Firstly you will need a couple of carrots – peeled, steamed and mashed. It is very important that when you prepare these you use them immediately. The Vitamin C content will begin to oxidize as soon as it is exposed to air and these vitamin C molecules need to be ‘donating’ electrons to the free-radicals on your skin! This process of electron exchange neutralizes the scavenging effect of the skin-damaging free-radicals, promoting a healthier skin and a healthier you!

To the carrots simply add: 1 Tbsp. honey, 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice. The amount of lemon juice depends on your skin type. If your skin is dry only use 8-10 drops of lemon but for an oily skin add up to a Tbsp.

Use a spoon to drop small amounts of the mixture onto your hands and gently massage the mask onto your face for a couple of minutes – you can then relax keeping the mask on for a further 5 minutes. Finally just rinse off with water in the sink or even easier – in the shower.

An alternative even simpler remedy for sunburned, wind burned, mature and very dehydrated skin is to use a few teaspoons of raw honey applied in a thin layer onto the face and neck. Remember that as the honey warms on your skin it will become runny – so rest on a towel. Relax for 15 minutes then pat your skin with your fingertips for a further 5 minutes to encourage circulation. Rinse using a warm damp face cloth.

………..Are you feeling yummy now?
